Property group sponsors city region

The main sponsor for the Leeds City Region at an international property conference in France is the UK's biggest property group.
Land Securities signed up as the major sponsor for the region at the MIPIM 2010 forum in Cannes from March 16-19. Its portfolio director Gerald Jennings said Leeds City Council's positive attitude gave added confidence to investors like Land Securities who want to share in the city's success.
The five Yorkshire local authorities exhibiting together for the first time at MIPIM this year have adopted the theme Powerhouse of the North for the conference.
Land Securities owns and manages property in London and 24 shopping centres in cities across the UK including the 650,000 sq ft White Rose Shopping Centre in Leeds. It is also behind plans to deliver the 1m sq ft Trinity Leeds shopping centre development in Leeds city centre and is a founder member of the ARISE initiative, donating around £100,000 to local charities over the last five years.
Gerald Jennings, Land Securities portfolio director said: "Leeds is a progressive city that knows where it wants to go and how to get there. Its success as the first to be granted City Region Pilot status is well deserved."
