MC Ware defies economic crisis

A North East business has managed to almost double turnover and staff numbers at a time when other companies are trimming staff to cope with cash shortfalls.
MC Ware, which is based in Stokely, specialises in network installations, anti-spam, marine installations, telephone systems, disaster recovery and internet design. The company has seen sales and profits increase by over 40% to £1.6 million and its workforce grow from eight to 14.
The firm, which was established in 1998, managed to buck the recession trend by winning hospitality and professional service contracts as well as the oil, gas, marine and renewable energy sectors.
The company works for clients such as Brown Beer Nixon Mallon solicitors in Middlesbrough as well as others much further afield, with projects in Singapore, China, the US and Norway.
Jonathan Wheatley, managing director of MC Ware, said: "I think the key to our growth is a combination of being involved with a variety of markets around the world and continually investing in staff training and development.
"As we continue to create jobs we are proving that there is still a chance to shine even during tougher economic times."
