An airline that is based at Humberside Airport is set to expand its fleet with two new Saab planes.
Eastern Airways has signed a lease agreement with the Swedish manufacturer for the aircraft and the delivery of the first plane will take place in December this year, meaning the fleet will now have eight Saab 2000s.
"The Saab is ideally suited for our domestic and European network along with our charter programme and is the right choice for further route expansion into Europe," commented Chris Holliday, chief operating officer at Eastern Airways.
He added that the Saab 2000 is a flexible type of aircraft as it can be used on both long and short runways and can fly to eastern European and Mediterranean countries because of its speedy cruising speeds and range.
Earlier this year, Eastern Airways was nominated for the Best UK Domestic Airline for Business accolade at the Buying Business Travel Diamond Awards 2009.
