Ed Milliband is to outline how offshore wind farms can benefit businesses in the region at an event in Doncaster.
The Energy and Climate Change Secretary will be among speakers at the UK Offshore Wind Supply Chain event at Doncaster Racecourse.
Some 300 delegates from the region including manufacturers, major consulting engineers and service organisations such as vessel operators and ports, will be attending the conference.
Mr Milliband along with industry representatives will outline the support available to businesses to make the most of the opportunities provided by offshore wind power.
The event is being held by regional development agency Yorkshire Forward and The Crown Estate.
Tom Riordan, chief executive of Yorkshire Forward, said the region was "well placed" to take advantage of the offshore opportunities with its harbour and ports, marine experience, skill base, and engineering capabilities.
He added: "We will ensure that our region's businesses make the most of the opportunities this growing industry presents and we encourage them to plan and to act now."
